Welcome to Clermont Elementary School!

Welcome to Clermont Elementary School where we motivate, challenge, and inspire all students to achieve success. My name is Shirley Hunter, and I am very happy to be the principal of Clermont and the Director of Elementary Education for the District.

Our elementary program is built on solid teaching techniques taught by caring and well-educated teachers who use best practices and current teaching strategies. Our support staff is highly qualified and an asset to our school.

Clermont has an enrollment of approximately 575 students in grades K through 5, and our school has met the AYP goals (Adequate Yearly Progress) measured by PSSA (PA System of School Assessment) every year since testing began.

Successful schools have strong and positive home-school partnerships where children learn to be responsible, industrious, and caring people. I am pleased that we have that home support, many parent volunteers, and willing P.T.O. members. We have a variety of PTO events planned for the year, and I hope that all families can attend. I encourage families to carefully read the monthly newsletter to learn about important information and updated events.

About Dr. Hunter:

• Dr. Hunter began her career in education as a sixth grade teacher in the Warwick School District. She came to Solanco in the 2003-2004 school year as the principal of Providence Elementary School and joined Clermont Elementary in 2010-2011.
• She has earned a B.S. in Social Sciences from Juniata College and a BS in Elementary Education from Lebanon Valley College. She is also a graduate of Widener University where she earned both her master's degree and her doctorate.
