Student creates beautiful Christmas card

Christmas Card - Donelle Keeport I WEBIn the photo is Solanco High School junior Donelle Keeport (center) with a Solanco 2013 Christmas card that features her beautiful artwork. Donelle participated in the annual art competition among high school students to design the district’s Christmas card. The theme of the contest was “Winter Birds.” Donelle’s remarkably-detailed chickadee was chosen to be featured on the district’s Christmas card. Donelle’s chickadee was created using drypoint etching, an elaborate process that features fine line drawing engraved on a plate and printed from the plate. Along with Donelle’s beautiful artwork on the cover, the message on the inside of the card is “Wishing  you a happy holiday season & all the best in the coming year! Solanco School Board and Administration.”

At Monday’s Solanco School Board meeting, Superintendent Dr. Martin Hudacs presented Donelle with the “first card out of the box,” which the district had framed for her. With Donelle in the photo are her mother Trudi and father Kevin. The Solanco School District is very proud of Donelle and our many wonderfully-talented students at Solanco.
