Mule - Dedication eSol NewsThe high-kicking metal mule at the high school was officially dedicated during a ceremony prior to Saturday’s Solanco football game. Recognized were the Solanco Class of 2011 which¬†provided the financial gift to the high school that made the mule possible, and Cody Kaufman from Kaufmans Metal Art who created the 1,200-pound metal mule. Cody is a 2008 Solanco graduate. In the photo, from left to right, are Mike Malloy, treasurer for the Solanco Class of 2011, Solanco High School Secretary Ina Wilson who made the original contact with Kaufmans Metal Art to build the mule, Solanco High School Principal Brian Gallagher, and Cody Kaufman. (The other officers for the Class of 2011 are president Nick Rongione, Vice President Phil Dobinson, and secretary Taylor Freisher.)
The financial gift from the Class of 2011 paid for the metal and supplies used to make the mule, while Kaufmans Metal Art donated their time and labor to the project. The mule was put in place at the high school in June and it has already become a favorite location for Solanco sports team photos. During Saturday’s dedication it was announced that the impressive 9-foot by 14-foot metal mule will serve as “an inspiration for Solanco athletes and students for years to come!”
