Karen Gagliardi - Teacher Impact Award 3-13.jpg-websiteGeorge A. Smith Middle School music teacher Karen Gagliardi has been selected as a recipient of the prestigious 2013 WGAL TV-8 Teacher Impact Award! WGAL said Gagliardi received “many, many nominations for the award” from parents, students and Solanco community members.  Solanco Superintendent Dr. Martin Hudacs said, “We are very proud of Karen for all that she has done for our kids, and, based on the nominations, that pride is shared by a lot of people in the Solanco community.”

Each year, under the direction of Karen Gagliardi, the Smith Singers put in exceptional performances and earn high honors in the Heritage Music Festival. Last year in Washington D.C., the Smith Singers earned gold medals for each of their four performances. In addition, they received the Spirit of Washington Award for “representing their community in a exemplary manner.”

Gagliardi will receive the award during a ceremony on Monday, May 13 at the Sheraton Harrisburg-Hershey Hotel. Gagliardi is the only Solanco teacher to ever win the WGAL Teacher Impact Award! Gagliardi is also a member of Solanco’s Distinguished Teacher program.
