new_mule_copyOn Aug. 27, the first Lancaster-Lebanon League Section 2 golf tournament was hosted by Manheim Central at Iron Valley Golf Course.

“As expected it was a tight contest at the top with Garden Spot leading the way with 362, followed by Elizabethtown 365, Solanco 385, Conestoga Valley 406, Ephrata 476 and Manheim Central 569,” Solanco High School golf coach Greg Minnich said.  “The conditions were some of the most severe we have played under due to high winds and the setup (toughness) of the course.”  Solanco was led by sophomore Logan Wagner who shot 82 which tied for low round of the day.  Fellow sophomore Anna Sexton shot 97, junior Andy Teaman 102, junior Olivia Lasko 104, freshman Brayden Herr 104 and senior Lucas Boyd shot 106.  “I thought the kids hung in there and played well under some very tough conditions; it is always tough getting the first tournament out of the way but the experience playing a tough course with tough conditions will pay off in the long run,” Minnich said.  “While Logan was not particularly happy with his round he did pick up where he left off last year, leading the section in scoring. Anna continued her consistent play with her 97 as she had shot 96 and 97 in qualifying at Tanglewood earlier in the week.  Andy will look to greatly improve his score.  Olivia played well shooting 104 and freshman Brayden showed he will be a force on the team as the season progresses as he also carded 104.  Lucas rounded out the scoring with a 106.”

The next section 2 L-L League tournament will be hosted by Garden Spot at Honeybrook Golf Course on Thursday, September 3.
