Solanco receives community technology grant

| May 6, 2020

The Solanco School District has received a $12,000 grant to help address, minimize and eliminate some of the issues associated with rural poverty. The grant, from the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) through the United Way, will be used to purchase laptops, tablets, and jump drives and other devices that will be distributed throughout the community, and to provide training for students and parents.
“The monies from this grant will be utilized in order to address the unique technology challenges that arise in in Southern End when trying to institute a distance learning model, such as the one currently being implemented during the pandemic,” Solanco School District Assistant Superintendent Dr. Robert Dangler said. “Our goal with this grant will be to remove as many barriers as possible for our community to ensure equitable access.”
