Sandy Megan - CAFRWEBOnce again, Solanco business officials have earned the Certificate of Excellence in Financial Reporting from the Association of School Business Officials International (ASBO). The award honors Solanco’s Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR) for the 2017-2018 fiscal year, which ASBO says clearly demonstrates Solanco’s commitment to financial transparency and high standards for financial reporting. “Solanco Business Manager Sandy Tucker and her team have consistently met high standards for quality accounting and are to be congratulated for their excellent work,” Solanco Superintendent Dr. Brian Bliss said.  ”This recognition represents Solanco’s commitment to both financial excellence in accounting and accountability through transparency.”

Solanco has won the award 22 times.

According to an ASBO news release, the mission of the Certificate of Excellence is to “promote and recognize excellence in financial reporting, specifically through a district’s CAFR. The CAFR informs stakeholders about the financial and economic state of the district, making it an important communications tool for building trust and engaging with the school community.” Copies of Solanco’s award-winning CAFR are available for public review. By participating in the COE program, school districts demonstrate their commitment to financial transparency. Applicants submit their CAFR for review by a team of professional auditors, who provide feedback to improve future documents. If the CAFR meets the requirements of the program, the document may receive the Certificate of Excellence. A district’s participation in the COE program can facilitate bond rating and continuing bond disclosure processes.
