New teachers, school counselor and assistant principal in Solanco schools

Sixteen new teachers and additional new staff members will be in Solanco schools and classrooms for the 2019-2020 school year.

Allison Hower is a 1st grade teacher at Clermont Elementary. She graduated from Millersville University, and her interests include writing, dancing, and spending time with family.

Stacy Pinno-Maurer is a new 1st grade teacher at Clermont. She is a graduate of North Carolina University at Wilmington. She has previous teaching experience and enjoys sports, the Philadelphia Phillies and Eagles, and her two dogs.

Emily Garber is a new extended day kindergarten teacher at Bart-Colerain Elementary, and kindergarten teacher at Providence Elementary. She is a graduate of Millersville University. Her hobbies include traveling, and spending time with family, including her dog.

Maryanne Robertson will teach 5th grade as a long-term substitute at Bart-Colerain Elementary. She graduated from Millersville University and Wilmington University. Previously, she was a 6th grade language arts teacher at George A. Smith Middle School for 10 years, and has also taught in Florida.  Her interests include family time and hiking.

Shae Lynch is a 5th grade teacher at Clermont. She graduated from Penn State University, and has previous teaching experience. Her hobbies are reading, traveling and the outdoors.

Ashley Gilgore is the new school counselor at Bart-Colerain Elementary School. She is a graduate of Millersville University and Liberty University, and her hobbies are visiting the beach, reading, spending time with family, and taking cruises.

Olivia Lauer is a 2nd grade teacher at Providence Elementary. A graduate of McDaniel College, she has previous teaching experience. Her interests are jewelry making, painting and playing the saxophone.

Susan Zunino is a new emotional support teacher at Providence Elementary. She is a graduate of West Chester University, and has previous teaching experience. Her hobbies include family time at the beach and fishing.

Krista Groff is an autistic support teacher at Providence Elementary. She is a graduate of Solanco High School and Grand Canyon University and has previous teaching experience. She enjoys cooking, baking, traveling and spending time with her family.

Samantha Heffner is a new life skills support teacher at Solanco High School. A graduate of York College, and currently working for a Master’s at Arkansas State University, she has previous teaching experience. Her hobbies include her three dogs, hiking, camping, reading, cooking, traveling and spending time with family.

Elisabeth (Ellie) Wright is a new 8th grade LEAD teacher at Smith Middle School. A graduate of Juniata College, her interests are ballet and learning foreign languages.

Erin Phillips is a band teacher for students in 4th through 8th grades at Bart-Colerain, Clermont, Providence and Quarryville elementary schools, and Smith and Swift middle schools. She is a graduate of Kutztown University, and has previous teaching experience. Her interests are spending time with family and friends, and the drum corps.

Nick Nobile is a speech pathologist at Solanco High School, Smith Middle School and Bart-Colerain Elementary. He graduated from West Chester University and Towson University, and enjoys basketball, football and boating.

Brandon Smith is the new computer teacher at Swift Middle School. He graduated from Millersville University and Shippensburg University, and previously served as the college and career advisor at Solanco High School. He is Solanco’s jr. high boys basketball coach, and enjoys time with family and friends, watching sports, attending church and leading a life group.

Erin Groff is a 7th grade LEAD teacher at George A. Smith Middle School. A graduate of Millersville University and working on a Master’s from Gratz College, she has previous teaching experience. Her hobbies are reading, singing and animal rescue.

Kacie Hershey is a new fitness teacher at Solanco High School. In addition, she will teach adapted physical education at schools throughout the district. She graduated from Lock Haven University, and has previous teaching experience. Her interests include basketball, reading, tennis and the Philadelphia Eagles.

Dillon Maurer is a new 9th grade advanced English teacher at Solanco High School. He graduated from Harding University in North Carolina, and has previous teaching experience. His interests are stand-up comedy, acting, golf, and the Dallas Cowboys.

New Teachers - DistrictWEBIn addition to the teachers, the following new staff members will serve students in Solanco:

Marla Davis is a district-wide occupational therapist. A graduate of Solanco High School, Elizabethtown College and University of St. Augustine, her hobbies include serving as a volunteer for the Miss Solanco Pageant.

Michele Haverly is a kindergarten through 12th grade itinerant autistic support teacher. She is a graduate of Slippery Rock University, Immaculata University, and Cabrini University. She has previous teaching experience. Her hobbies are family time and reading.

Michelle Rohrer is the district special education consultant. She is a graduate of Solanco High School, Millersville University, and Penn State University, with previous teaching experience. She enjoys her husband and three children (including 6-year-old twin boys), traveling, reading, spending time outdoors and gardening.
