Students going into sixth grade are moving on from their elementary schools and will attend a school new to them this year, either George A. Smith Middle School or Swift Middle School.  Sixth grade orientation is being held this week to prepare students for their first year in middle school. Sixth grade orientation helps students become more familiar with their new schools so they can begin the school year with confidence and optimism. During sixth grade orientation, middle school principal Paul Gladfelter and assistant principals David Beard (Smith) and John Dolan (Swift), and counselors Caitlin DeSimone (Smith) and Jennifer Pearson (Swift), provided students and parents with information about student daily schedules, student lockers, appropriate student dress, school cafeteria rules, peanut-free zones in school, and gym uniforms. Students also met with 7th and 8th grade student leaders to learn more about the activities they will participate in in middle school. The first day of school will be Monday, August 26.
