Distinguished Teacher - Lindsay Capoferri WEBSolanco High School counselor Lindsay Capoferri has been chosen for induction into Solanco’s special Distinguished Teacher program. She will be officially inducted into the Distinguished Teacher program at the Solanco School Board meeting on Monday, August 19. Capoferri’s career at Solanco began in September 2007 as an English teacher at Swift Middle School. Since June of 2013 she has been a school counselor at the high school, except for a six-month period when she was counselor at Smith Middle School.

Eligibility requirements for the Distinguished Teacher award include a Master’s Degree, level II or permanent certification, and 10 years in education, with at least three years in the Solanco School District. Teachers identified as Distinguished Teachers will serve in various types of mentorship roles for young instructors.

“I have been fortunate to work with some amazing educators,” Capoferri said. “I have had mentors, co-workers, role models, and administrators who have pushed me to do more for my students and our district. Being identified as a Distinguished Teacher means that I have taken that guidance and encouragement, and I have made it worth their while. I truly believe a Distinguished Teacher has a genuine desire to provide the best atmosphere for students to succeed, thrive, and be the best versions of themselves. As a Distinguished Teacher, it means that I have contributed to this goal. That, more than anything else, is what I strive for every day. It is an honor to know that I have worked toward making this district and our students better just by doing the job that I love, especially in the community that I call home.”

Capoferri earned a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Millersville University in December of 2006, and a Master’s of Education in Secondary School Counseling from Lancaster Bible College in December of 2012.
