Solanco Director of Pupil Services Carole L. Clancy has earned a distinguished invitation to serve in the Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE). Clancy’s exemplary leadership in special education has resulted in her appointment as Director of the Special Education Bureau for PDE. Her resignation from Solanco is effective July 22. “I have no doubt that I will be better in my new role having spent the past year as part of the Solanco educational team,” Clancy said. “I have experienced a collective group of passionate, dedicated leaders with a consistent kindergarten to grade 12 vision that resonates ‘Solanco is always about what is best for the students.’”

Solanco Superintendent Dr. Brian Bliss said, “Carole’s efforts at Solanco have been tremendous, and we are greatly appreciative of the expertise and commitment she provided to our students.”

At its June 3 meeting, the Solanco School Board approved the hiring of Christopher Keeler as Solanco’s new Director of Special Education. Keeler has been Coordinator of Special Education in the School District of Lancaster since 2016. He has also served as Exceptional Student Specialist for the School District of Lancaster, a learning support teacher at J.P. McCaskey High School, and adjunct instructor for Millersville University.

“I am thrilled to welcome Chris to the Solanco team.  His talents and absolute devotion to our students with special needs will be a tremendous asset to our programs,” Dr. Bliss said.

Keeler earned a Special Education Supervisory Certificate from Penn State University in 2012, and he holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Special Education from Millersville University, a Master of Education in Secondary School Counseling from West Chester University, and a Bachelor of Science in Special Education from Millersville University.

“I am excited by this opportunity to be a part of the excellent work that is happening in the Solanco School District,” Keeler said. “I look forward to getting to know the students, staff and families of this community as we work together to build supports and opportunities for all students.”
