Middle school teams perform well in Envirothon

Swift - EnvirothonWEBThe Swift Middle School Envirothon team finished an impressive third place of out 20 teams at the Lancaster County Envirothon Competition. The team also had the highest score on the wildlife station.  Team members include (left to right): Autumn Butler, Grace Pursel, and Liam Barry.

The Smith Middle School Junior Envirothon team placed fourth out of 12 teams at the Lancaster County Junior Envirothon. Team members include Braedon Bickford (top), Jace Underwood (middle) and Sam Zook (bottom).  “Envirothon is a competition that promotes environmental awarness and an appreciation for the natural environment and the conservation of its resources,” said team coach and teacher Gerald Boyd. “This year students learned about Pennsylvania’s forests. They had stations that tested them on their knowlege of trees and plants, birds, mammals, and forest features.”
