More prestigious recognition for award-winning artist Olivia Stoltzfus

Art - Olivia Stoltzfus - Looking Down with CompassionOlivia Stoltzfus is the recipient of the 2019 C.X. Carlson Senior Art Portfolio Scholarship Award of $11,500! This prestigious “emerging artist” scholarship is awarded by The Red Raven Art Company and the C.X. Carlson Cultural Trust in Lancaster.

Olivia will be honored during an awards ceremony at The Red Raven Art Company from 1 to 2 p.m. on Sunday, March 24. Olivia’s award-winning work will be featured on the “emerging artist” wall for the month of July at The Red Raven Art Company, 138 North Prince Street, Lancaster.

“Olivia has won a long list of awards for her outstanding work in the visual arts, Solanco High School art teacher Candace Rakers said. “In the 2018 and 2019 Scholastic Art Awards and Young Artists Awards competitions, Olivia’s work has been awarded the highest awards, which includes numerous Special Awards, Portfolio Awards, Gold, Silver, and Honorable Mention Awards. Olivia was awarded two scholarships to attend the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts in Philadelphia in 2017 and 2018.”

Olivia was featured as the November 2017 Emerging Artist at the Hamilton Club of Lancaster, and her work was published on the cover of the Southern Lancaster Historical Society Calendar in 2018. As an accomplished writer, Olivia’s work has been published in the 2018 winter edition of Philadelphia Stories, Jr. Olivia’s work in the visual arts has been featured on the cover of Entertainment Lancaster and in a feature story in Lancaster Newspapers and LancasterOnline. Olivia’s work has also been featured in exhibitions at the Lancaster Museum of Art, the Demuth Museum, Millersville University, and the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts in Philadelphia.

Olivia is currently working on the production of a highly-competitive portfolio for scholarships to the top visual arts schools in the country. Olivia will choose among The Cooper Union, N.Y., Rhode Island School of Design, Pratt Institute, N.Y., Maryland Institute College of Art, and the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts in Philadelphia.

“Olivia’s outstanding achievements in the visual arts make her an exceptionally deserving recipient of the C.X.Carlson Senior Portfolio Scholarship,” Candace Rakers said. “Olivia’s strong aesthetic sensibility, technical expertise, determination, discipline, perseverance, open-mindedness, and strength of spirit infuse her work with great integrity. This distinguished recognition honors Olivia’s deep investment and level of sophistication inherent in her work.”
