Lots of laughs at the Swift play

| March 1, 2019

The Swift Performers will provide free public performances of The Great American Talent Show by renowned playwright Joseph Robinette on Wednesday, March 13 and Saturday, March 16. Both shows at Swift Middle School begin at 7 p.m.; admission is free and everyone is invited.

The Great American Talent Show is a parody of all television talent shows, featuring whimsical performances by students portraying, among others, a singer and their rendition of a ludicrous “heartbreak” song, a comedian who relies on outdated jokes, and a brutally honest judge.

The play will be directed by Swift teachers Laura Gingerich and Stephanie Wood.

Following is a list with the characters, a description of who the characters are, and the Swift actors and actresses who will portray them:
Sonny Breckinridge (TV talent show host) Kira Brazelton.
Chuckie Carlyle (comedian contestant) Austin Icenhour.
Ellie Jordan (modeling contestant) Liz Main.
Giselle LeBeau (makeover contestant) Emma Reinhardt.
Morgan Mayfield (singing contestant) Morgan Robertson.
Mary Jane Paulson (IQ contestant) Devon Culberson.
Freddy Soderstorm (band contestant) Brayden Swope. Arnie Toliver (impressionist contestant) Jimmy Hartigan.
Meridee Holliway (judge, a famous actress) Kiara Chmielecki.
