Student artwork highlighted in LNP – meet our award-winning artists at Friday’s exhibitions in Lancaster

Beautiful artwork by Solanco High School student Olivia Stoltzfus is featured on the cover of this week’s Entertainment Lancaster (EL), published in Thursday’s LNP (Lancaster Newspapers). “An LNP  feature story about Olivia and Solanco’s excellent showing in this year’s Scholastic Art Awards and Lancaster County Young Artists Awards exhibitions begins in the print version on page 12, inside Entertainment Lancaster,” Solanco High School art teacher Candace Rakers  said. “Additionally, several outstanding works by Olivia and my students Tyler Allen, Tyson Grant, Chase Charles and Mackenzie Roth are also  highlighted in the LNP online feature story.”

Solanco’s  recipients of prestigious art awards will participate in  public exhibitions tonight (Friday, March 1) in Lancaster. They will meet with the public and discuss their magnificent artwork during  exhibitions on Friday (March 1), from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Lancaster Museum of Art at 135 North Lime Street in Lancaster, and the Demuth Museum at 120 East King Street in Lancaster. Admission is free and all are invited to meet the talented artists and enjoy their remarkable artwork.

Eleven Solanco High School students and one Swift Middle School student have won an impressive 57 awards in the 2019 Scholastic Art Awards/Lancaster County Young Artists Awards. “Two of the 5 Best in Show, five Art Portfolio Awards, 17 individual Gold, nine individual Silver, and 24 individual Honorable Mention,” Solanco High School art teacher Candace Rakers said. “Twelve awards forwarded to New York for national adjudication! The students are honored and thrilled!”

Olivia Stoltzfus and Tyson Grant earned prestigious Scholastic Art American Vision Awards. Five Scholastic Art Portfolio Awards were presented to Tyler Allen (Gold), Tyson Grant (Gold, Honorable Mention), and Olivia Stoltzfus (Silver, Honorable Mention). Mackenzie Roth, Chase Charles, Tyson Grant, Tyler Allen, Matthew Mentz and Olivia Stoltzfus have earned the phenomenal honor of having their work forwarded to New York for national adjudication.

“All of the winners in the Scholastic Art Awards and Lancaster County Young Artists Awards can be especially proud of the impressive quality of their work selected for this highly-competitive awards exhibition,” Rakers said.  Following are Solanco’s award-winning artists and information about their remarkable achievements.

Art exhibitions: Artwork of students who won Scholastic Art Awards will be on exhibit at the Demuth Museum. The Lancaster County Young Artists Exhibition will be on view at the Lancaster Museum of Art. The exhibitions run through April 14. The Demuth Museum is at 120 East King Street in Lancaster, while the Lancaster Museum of Art is at 135 North Lime Street in Lancaster. Exhibition hours at both are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday, and 1 to 4 p.m. on Sundays. Admission is free and all are invited.
