Middle school students excel in TSA conference and qualify for states

Middle School TSA - Kara PeaceWEB2Solanco middle school students earned 1st, 2nd and 3rd place finishes during strong performances in the TSA Regional Conference for Region 2. TSA stands for Technology Student Association and is an organization dedicated to engaging students across the country in STEM activities – Science, Technology, Engineering and Math.

“I am proud of these students and their efforts,” middle school teacher Kevin Childs said. He provided this list of Solanco students’ impressive results in the TSA conference:

Photo – Paul Kocher and Melana Soto, who along with Kristen Eckman, earned 2nd Place in Off the Grid (they had to design a home for a specific geographic location that would operate “off the grid,” by using other means for heating, cooling and electricity).

The first place, second place and qualifier students are eligible for the Pennsylvania TSA State Conference in the spring.

Other students who competed were Jorden Ross, Connor Yingst, Connor Ginger, Clayton Craig, Braighton Lenhart, and Kyle Keemer.
