Sara Parrish will become assistant principal at Solanco High School

Sara Parrish1WEBThe Solanco School Board has approved the hiring of Sara Parrish as assistant principal at Solanco High School. Parrish has served as Learning Support Teacher and 8th Grade Teacher at Smith Middle School since 2004. She will succeed Scott Long as assistant principal; Long will become Solanco High School Principal in July upon the retirement of principal Stephanie Lininger.

In 2016, Parrish was inducted into Solanco’s Distinguished Teacher program in recognition of her instructional excellence, extraordinary success working with students, and professional leadership. “I am so grateful for the opportunity now to join the high school team,” Parrish said. “I see the position of assistant principal as a great opportunity to join a team that is making positive improvements and growth for all. I am excited to be able to prepare the students for life. I’m looking forward to learning more about the many activities and events that the high school adds to the community.”

Solanco Superintendent Dr. Brian Bliss said, “Sara brings a commitment to all students, a clear understanding of instructional excellence, and a high degree of empathy to the position.  Sara has much to offer the Solanco High School community.”

Prior to coming to Solanco in 2004, Parrish served as Therapeutic Staff Support and Mobile Therapist for Kidspeace in Danville, PA. At Bloomsburg University she earned an undergraduate degree in psychology in 1999, and a graduate degree in special education in 2004. She received principal certification at Penn State University. Parrish also holds certifications in English, mid-level mathematics, and special education.

Parrish’s first day as Solanco High School Assistant Principal will be July 1.
