Enjoy the Christmas spirit at high school holiday concert Dec. 20

Christmas WreathOur entire community is invited – admission is free – to the Solanco High School Holiday Concert on Thursday (December 20) at
7:30 p.m. at the high school.

“Chorally, we will have two choirs - chorale with 31 members and chorus with 65 members – and selections will range from fun holiday songs like Run Run Rudolph to large choral pieces like Craig Hella Johnson’s The Holding Carol. Solanco High School music teacher Erin Brubaker said “Other selections will include The Virgin Mary had a Baby Boy, Something Told the Wild Geese, and Javier Busto’s Ave Maris Stella.

“The orchestra will play four selections, two full orchestra arrangements and two string ensemble arrangements,” Solanco High School band director Scott Weyman said. “The full orchestra will perform Around the World at Christmas Time arranged by Bruce Chase, Christmas Sing-A-Long arranged by Bob Cerulli. The String Ensemble will perform Somewhere In My Memory by John Williams/arranged by Larry Moore,  Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas arranged by Calvin Custer.”

Jazz Band performances will include O Come, All Ye Faithful (arranged by Gregory Yasinitsky), It Came Upon a Midnight Clear (arranged by Mike Collins-Dowden), Greensleeves
(arranged by Victor Lopez), and My Favorite Things (arranged by Paul Murtha).

Snacks will be available for purchase and proceeds will benefit the Solanco Music Boosters.
