Smith - auditorium Nov2018WEBThis year’s George A. Smith Middle School fall play, Go West!,  will be performed in the brand-new beautiful auditorium that has been built as part of the construction project at Smith! Students will provide entertaining performances of Go West! at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, November 14, and 8:50 a.m. on Thursday, November 15. The shows are free and our entire community is invited.

The play director is Smith music teacher Karen Gagliardi, and she provided this information about the play: Go West! was written and composed by John Jacobson and Roger Emerson.  The musical is set at the beginning of the United States westward expansion with the discovery of gold!  Land is being given away to settlers willing to make a fresh start.  The story line includes the discovery of gold, the invention of the steam locomotive as well as an appearance by Robert Fulton and the steam boat!

Main characters in the show are Jacob Trimble who is the Wagon Master, Joey Miller in the role of Robert Fulton, Raif Groves as the Steamboat Captain, Megan Plank plays Yellow Rose, and a full cast of western pioneers.  Following is a complete list of talented Smith students who will bring Go West! alive on the stage in the new auditorium at Smith.
