New teachers, counselors and librarian in the Solanco School District

New Teachers - ElementaryWEBEighteen new teachers will be in Solanco classrooms for the 2018-2019 school year, and in addition there will be a new principal at Clermont Elementary, new elementary and middle school counselors, and a new college and career advisor at the high school. In addition, Solanco also has a new pupil services director, behavior specialist director, special education consultant, and two new speech/language pathologists.

Elementary schools:

Kelly Smith is the new school counselor at Bart-Colerain. She is a graduate of the University of Maryland, Loyola College. Her hobbies include soccer, reading and traveling.

Delsa Wrigley will teach 5th grade at Bart-Colerain. (not in photo)

Melissa Reynolds is a 5th grade teacher at Bart-Colerain. She graduated from Millersville University, and her interests include running, hiking, traveling and do-it-yourself projects.

Emily Leaman is a new art teacher at Bart-Colerain. She is a graduate of James Madison University and Millersville University, and she has previous teaching experience in Texas. Her hobbies include ceramics, playing the guitar and ukulele, and making jewelry.

Felicia Loughery is a counselor at Clermont Elementary School. A graduate of Kutztown University, her interests are reading, writing, music and spending time with her neice.

Sarah Prohaska is a 5th grade teacher at Clermont Elementary. She graduated from Penn State University and enjoys volleyball and walking her dog.

Megan Martin is a learning support teacher at Clermont Elementary. She is a graduate of Grove City College and has previous experience at Hollidaysburg Junior High School. Her interests include golfing and other outdoor activities, and serving at a camp for adults with special needs.

Tess Riehl is a learning support teacher at Clermont and Providence elementary schools. She is a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford and Indiana University of Pennsylvania, and was previously a teacher in the Altoona Area School District. Her hobbies are hiking with her husband and dogs, running, and spending time with family and friends.

Ashley Stauffer is a 5th grade at Providence Elementary. She is a graduate of Penn State Harrisburg and her hobbies are hiking, kayaking and playing board games.

Christine Shelly is an emotional support teacher at Providence Elementary School. She is a graduate of Georgian Court University, and has previous teaching experience in New Jersey and Tyrone, Pennsylvania. Her hobbies are volunteering and spending time with her family.

Lindsay Meunier is a speech therapist at Providence Elementary. She is a graduate of Arcadia University and West Chester University. Her hobbies include her horse Galaxy and her kitten Simcoe.

Kelly Rodeheaver is a learning support teacher at Providence Elementary. She is a graduate of the University of Delaware and West Chester University, and has previous experience in the Avon Grove Charter School. Her hobbies are running, reading and spending time with her husband and two young children.

Rachel Harze is the new librarian at Providence and Bart-Colerain elementary schools. She is a graduate of Kutztown University and has previous experience in Virginia. Her interests include equestrian activities and playing the violin.

Rachel DeMonaco is a kindergarten teacher at Quarryville Elementary. She is a graduate of Walden University Online and has previous teaching experience in Florida. Her hobbies are exploring new places and her two beagles.

Christy Crammer is a 5th grade teacher at Quarryville. She is a graduate of East Stroudsburg University, Cedar Crest College and Lehigh University. She has previous teaching experience in the Allentown School District. Her hobbies include her bullmastiff, and she has a “love/hate” relationship with Crossfit.

Mikaela Masser is a life skills teacher at Quarryville. She graduated from Lock Haven University and her interests include traveling, and outdoor activities.

Carly Sees is a speech therapist at Bart-Colerain Elementary, Smith Middle School and the high school. She is a graduate of Misericordia University and enjoys coaching cheerleading.

Jessica Ryan is a new English as a Second Language Teacher in Solanco. She graduated from Cabrini College and Neumann University and she has previous teaching experience in the Avon Grove School District. She enjoys running, and her three children attend Clermont Elementary.

Middle schools:

Caitlin DeSimone is the new school counselor at Smith Middle School.
She is a graduate of Kutztown University. Her interests include hiking, kayaking, camping and spending time with her husband and dog.

Bethany Currie will teach English at Smith Middle School.  She graduated from Cairn University and Cabrini College, and has taught previously at Penn Christian Academy and in the Central Bucks School District. Her interests including hiking, gardening, camping, and playing tennis and the piano.

Emily Parmer is a 7th grade math teacher at Swift Middle School. She is a Solanco graduate (2014), and a graduate of Penn State Harrisburg. “I am excited to be back in the Solanco community,” Parmer said.

 

High school:

Tesla Atkins-Miller will teach physical education at Solanco High School. She graduated from East Stroudsburg University. She has previous teaching experience at Charlotte Country Day and Helen Thackston Charter School. She enjoys paddleboarding, Marvel movies with her husband and son, and remodeling her family’s new home.

Caleb Graves is a physical education teacher at Solanco High School. He is a graduate of Lancaster Bible College and Colorado Christian University and has previous experience at Mastery Charter Lenfest. His interests include reading, basketball and other sports, traveling and the beach.

Mallory Rutledge is a Spanish teacher at the high school. She is a graduate of Solanco High School and Messiah College, and has previous teaching experience in Downingtown. She enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, the beach and softball.

Katie Schick is the new college and career advisor at the high school as part of a two-year program with Franklin & Marshall College. She will work with students as they review, apply and prepare for college, with a focus on students who will be the first in their family to attend college. (not in photo)

Ashley Edwards-Nace is Behavior Specialist Director for Solanco. She has served as Behavior Specialist for Pennsylvania Counseling Services, Chester County Intermediate Unit, and Red Lion Area School District. She holds a Master of Science in Psychology with a focus in Applied Behavioral Analysis from Kaplan University, and a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Penn State Harrisburg. Ashley is a Board Certified Behavior Analyst. Her interests include swimming and visiting the beach with her family.

Billie Corbin, previously a second and fifth grade teacher at Clermont Elementary, is now a special education consultant with Solanco. She holds a Bachelors of Science in Education from the University of Delaware and a Masters of Education in Leadership for Teaching and Learning from Millersville University. (not in photo)

The following counselor, nurse and teachers joined the Solanco School District during the 2017-2018 school year and are returning:

Frank Violante is the school counselor at Providence Elementary. He graduated from Kutztown University and Loyola University in Maryland and enjoys traveling and spending time with his dog.

Lauren Weikert is a 6th grade science teacher at Smith Middle School. She graduated from York College and enjoys time with family and friends, outdoor activities and crafting.

Becky Taylor is the nurse at Solanco High School. She graduated from Immaculata University, Chester County Hospital School of Nursing, and West Chester University. Her hobbies include gardening, singing, and overseas medical mission trips.

Zach Snyder is a math teacher at Solanco High School. He is a graduate of Kutztown University and enjoys reading, sports and board games.

 

Following are administration updates in Solanco (none are in the photos):

Sandy Tucker has been Solanco’s Business Manager since March. She served as Solanco Assistant Business Manager for 17 years. She recently earned the prestigious designation of Certified Administrator of School Finance and Operations (SFO), awarded by the Association of School Business Officials International (ASBO).

Megan Brown is Solanco’s Assistant Business Manager. She has 11years experience in the Solanco business and tax office, and food service department.

Christopher Zander is the new principal at Clermont Elementary. He has served as an elementary school principal in the Manheim Township School District, principal at a sixth grade school, special education consultant, learning support teacher, fourth grade teacher, and a coach for Solanco Little League, seventh and eighth grade boys basketball, and  girls youth soccer.

Carole Clancy is Solanco’s new Director of Pupil Services. She has served as Director of Special Education in the Oxford Area School District, and her experience also includes 20 years in special education at the School District of Lancaster.

Jason Sauders is Solanco’s Director of Technology. He served as a technician in the Solanco Technology Department from 2008-2011, and his experience also includes seven years as a technology specialist for the Penn Manor School District.
