Audrey Difilippo excels in SkillsUSA nationals!

Audrey Difilippo - natlsWEBCongratulations to Solanco 2018 graduate Audrey Difilippo who has earned a very impressive second place finish in the SkillsUSA National Competition in Louisville, Kentucky. Audrey finished in second place in Customer Service.

Prior to graduation Audrey attended the Mt. Joy campus of the Lancaster County Career and Technology Center (CTC) where she studied event planning and tourism services management. Her instructor, Alison Shepler, said Audrey won first place in districts, and then first place in states, which advanced her to nationals in Skills USA. The competitions involved a written test, a demonstration of telephone skills, and roleplay skills (an example would include calmly and effectively working with an angry customer).

Audrey works at the front desk at the Bird-in-Hand Family Inn. She plans to become a wedding planner.

SkillsUSA is a national student organization that develops employability, participatory and leadership skills to complement the occupational skills developed by students in technical education classrooms or work-based learning sites.  SkillsUSA is an integral part of approved technical education occupation programs.

A portion of the SkillsUSA curriculum includes district, state and national competitions where students have the opportunity to showcase their skills and compete against their career and tech ed peers in their field of study.  These competitions are judged by industry experts who devote their time to judging the next generation of skilled workers.
