Football players muscle their way to strong results

Football - Roadgrader1Solanco football players put in impressive performances at the annual Roadgrader’s Challenge. In the photo, “Rising seniors Danny Sampson, Nick Dillon, Logan Yaletchko, coach Mike Hammel, Cole Lewis and Jasiah Reimold came home with an impressive second place team finish as Cole Lewis deadlifted 250 pounds a remarkable 43 times, earning the top honors for the entire event,” Solanco football coach Anthony Cox said.

The challenge featured 39 teams consisting of five offensive and defensive linemen from 15 schools. Each team competed in skill-based challenges, including a 100-yard tire flip and a tug-of-war.

The Solanco team of Spencer Burrell, Justin Dagen, Michael Keefer, Jake FramptonĀ and Dalton Myers finished second in the tug-of-war. Caleb Billings, Averex Grant, Nate Neuhauser, Hunter Shaw and Tyler Whisman earned a sixth place finish in the 25-pound toss. Coach Cox said Ben Boyle, Caden Fuller, Cole Gladfelter, Connor Smith and Connor Sprout performed well during their first year of participation in the event.

“Our student-athletes received numerous compliments from other coaches on their camaraderie and encouragement for others,” Coach Cox said. “All Solanco players did an outstanding job representing our football program, school, community.”
