Solanco MiniTHON is a success!

| February 12, 2018

MiniTHON - grand totalWEBCongratulations to Solanco students, teachers, parents and community members who have hosted yet another successful Solanco MiniTHON! “This was the best per capita MiniTHON we have had coming in at $10,122.23 with 50 students  in attendance,” Solanco High School teacher and MiniTHON advisor Lisa Schell said. “Thanks for much to all who helped us with our MiniTHON efforts. Whether you came for a few hours, or stayed all night, we couldn’t have done it without you,” Schell said.

This was the fifth year for the Solanco MiniTHON, which is an overnight activity for students at the high school that successfully raises funds for Four Diamonds. Four Diamonds supports children with cancer and their parents at Penn State Hershey Children’s Hospital, and also researches prevention and treatment of pediatric cancer. Students pay a $10 admission fee and must raise at least $40 in pledges to participate in the MiniTHON, during which students enjoy games and activities while raising funds and awareness in the battle against childhood cancer.  The 2018 MiniTHON began at 6 p.m. on Friday, (February 9) and continued to 6 a.m. on Saturday (February 10). Students were encouraged to remain active and on their feet all night in honor of children who are battling cancer.

“Thanks to all of our business sponsors and donors,” Schell said. In speaking with some of the Four Diamonds families, your generosity means the world to them.”
