Top honors for Ciana Malchione in local art contest

Art-Ciana MalchioneWEBSolanco 2017 graduate Ciana Malchione has won Best in Show in the Quarryville Library Painting Awards Exhibition. The image below shows Ciana’s winning work, Dependency, which is pastel on paper. Ciana also has two additional works at the library which will be on view through February 20.

“Ciana’s work possesses a sophistication that is well beyone her years,” Solanco High School art teacher Candace Rakers said. ”Her phenomenal achievements in the visual arts speak to her intense
strength of spirit and artistic vision, intelligence, dedication, perseverance, and strong integrity inherent in her work.”

Ciana earned a 2017 Tuition Scholarship to attend The Cooper Union in New York City, one of the most selective schools for the visual arts in the United States. Ciana is enrolled in the BFA program in the School of Art at The Cooper Union.
