| September 13, 2016

Literacy ProjectWEBNow in its third year, the Solanco Literacy Project continues to grow in its efforts to promote¬†reading by finding additional opportunities to distribute books to students. The literacy project recently presented “Welcome Bags” to new students entering the district. The Welcome Bags contain a book and pencil, eraser, sticker and a bookmark. “We also provide them with information about the Literacy Project,” project director and high school teacher Stacy Shelton said.¬†”We are also working on expanding into the middle school and having books available at various middle school events.” Shelton said the project distributes books which are donated by the community. “The annual football game book drive will be held Friday, October 14, and each person who brings at least one book for donation will receive a discount on their admission to the football game.” Books can also be donated at each elementary school office or by contacting Stacy Shelton.
