Solanco teacher earns prestigious award

Tipping JessicaSolanco High School chemistry teacher Jessica Tipping is a winner of a WGAL Teacher Impact Award. “This award is designed to recognize teachers who have made a significant difference in the lives of their students,” WGAL Executive Assistant Laura Warner wrote in a letter to Solanco Superintendent Dr. Brian Bliss.

“When I received the call from WGAL, I was very surprised and honored to be receiving one of the Teacher Impact awards this year,” Tipping said. “It is a privilege to represent Solanco and all of the great individuals in our district.” Tipping’s entire 20-year teaching career has been in the Solanco School District.

WGAL will visit Solanco to profile “A day in the life of Jessica Tipping” at Solanco High School. The three- to five-minute vignettes of Tipping and the other seven Teacher Impact Award winners will be broadcast on WGAL monthly from October to next May.

Tipping will be honored for her outstanding accomplishment during the Teach Impact Awards Banquet to be held Monday, May 22, 2017 at the Sheraton
Harrisburg-Hershey Hotel.
