23 new teachers will greet students on Monday

New Teachers - secondaryWEBThere will be new teachers in each of Solanco’s seven schools for the 2016-2017 school year. A total of 23 new teachers are joining the Solanco School District, along with two new school counselors, and a new school nurse, school psychologist and college advisor.

High school and middle school:

Natalie Campbell will teach English at Solanco High School. She is a graduate of Millersville University.  She enjoys hiking and traveling.

Danielle Hennigan is a special education academic support teacher at Solanco High School. She is a graduate of Millersville University. She is an assistant coach for Solanco girls jr. high JV soccer, and also enjoys reading and traveling.

Laura Gingerich is a music and chorus teacher at Swift Middle School. She is a graduate of Lebanon Valley College. Her interests include blogging, acting, writing and traveling.

Elizabeth Martin is the band teacher at Swift and Smith middle schools, and Quarryville Elementary. She is a graduate of Elizabethtown College. Her hobbies are hiking, fishing, boating and yoga.

Stacy Luckenbaugh is a special education teacher at Swift Middle School. She is earning a Post-Master’s in educational leadership at Edinboro University. She is also a graduate of Drexel University and Shippensburg University. She has previous teaching experience in Baltimore City Schools, and York City Schools. She enjoys the outdoors and traveling with family and friends.

Patrick Thomas is a learning support teacher at the high school. He is a graduate of West Chester University, and he is involved with football and basketball at the high school.

Brandon Smith is a college advisor at the high school as part of a two-year program with Franklin & Marshall College that has been funded in part by the Solanco Education Foundation. One of Brandon’s responsibilities is to work with students who will be the first in their families to attend college. Brandon is a graduate of Millersville University and Harrisburg Area Community College. His hobbies include biking, running and watching sports, especially Penn State.

Elementary schools:

Mary Savage is a 3rd grade teacher at Providence Elementary. She is a graduate of Millersville University and has previous teaching experience in South Carolina and the Eastern Lancaster County School District. Her hobbies include hiking, camping, board games, crafting, and spending time with family and friends.

Lacy Plumbo is a 4th grade teacher at Bart-Colerain. She graduated from Penn State University, and has been a teacher in Virginia for seven years. Her hobbies include riding and showing horses, and home renovations. Lacy and her husband have a four-month-old son.

Lauren Dupler is a 3rd grade teacher at Quarryville Elementary. She is an Elizabethtown College. Her interest include Teach for American alumna, and traveling.

Heather Beck is a 3rd grade teacher at Quarryville Elementary School. She graduated from West Chester University and she enjoys horseback riding.

Jessica Knoll is a 4th grade teacher at Clermont Elementary. She is a graduate of Penn State University. Her interests include reading, running, traveling, and Penn State football.

Sarah Price is a 4th grade teacher at Quarryville Elementary. She is a graduate of Millersville University. Her hobbies are crafts, cooking, and biking with her husband.

Madison Orendorff will teach 1st grade at Providence Elementary School. She is a graduate of West Chester University. Her hobbies are hiking, running, and spending time with family and friends.

Kristen Graver is an extended day kindergarten teacher at Clermont Elementary. She graduated from Millersville University. Her interests include reading, camping, hiking, swimming and her two dogs.

Leah Kletzli is a learning support teacher at Providence Elementary. She graduated from Saint Francis University. Her hobbies include running, hiking and scrapbooking.

Elise Graybill is an extended day kindergarten teacher at Providence Elementary. She is a graduate of Millersville University and Grove City College. She has previous teaching experience at Locust Grove Mennonite School and the Pequea Valley School District. She enjoys spending time with her husband and their three children, and volunteering at church.

Jess Dauber will teach 2nd grade at Bart-Colerain Elementary. She is a graduate of Penn State University. Her interests include cooking, reading and music (clarinet and baritone horn).

Alyssa Davies is a 4th grade teacher at Providence Elementary. She is a graduate of Grove City College and enjoys reading, making cards, and the beach.

Ellen Myers will teach kindergarten at Quarryville and Providence elementary schools. She graduated from Kutztown University. Her interests include yoga, traveling, and spending time with her family.

Hilary Anderson is the school counselor at Clermont Elementary. She is a graduate of Kutztown University and Rosemont College. Her interests include swimming, diving, reading and traveling.

Lydia Meisel is the school counselor for Bart-Colerain and Providence elementary schools. She graduated from Moody Bible Institute and Lancaster Bible College.

Cathy Chanudet is a 5th grade teacher at Quarryville Elementary. She graduated from Solanco High School and Penn State University. She has previous teaching experience at West Philadelphia Achievement Charter School, and Universal Creighton Charter School. She enjoys spending time with her family.

Nicki Bender is the school nurse at Swift Middle School, and Clermont and Bart-Colerain elementary schools. She is a graduate of Solanco High School, Slippery Rock University, and Cedarville University. She enjoys traveling with her husband and two young children, reading, and her involvement at Refton Brethren in Christ Church.

April Kirk is a learning support teacher at Clermont Elementary school. She is a graduate of Solanco High School and Millersville University. She enjoys cooking, and watching and participating in sports.

Not in photo:

Barbara Beitler is an ESL teacher at the high school, Swift Middle School, Clermont Elementary and Providence Elementary. She has previous teaching experience in several school districts in Virginia.

Jenna Carey is a school psychologist at Clermont Elementary and George A. Smith Middle School. She is a graduate of Millersville University and Eastern University.
