WGAL-8 and FOX-43 teach students about weather forecasting

WGAL and SolancoESOLWGAL 8: Solanco High School student Ryan Argenti recently participated in an interesting and informative job shadowing experience with WGAL 8 meteorologist Christine Ferreira. Christine will also visit Providence Elementary School on May 3, where she will provide two presentations on weather forecasting and broadcasting. In previous presentations to Providence students, Christine has also discussed weather-related events such as tornadoes, hurricanes, blizzards, hail and the water cycle including evaporation and precipitation.

FOX 43: Joey Null, a 5th grader at Providence Elementary, participated Wednesday, April 20 in a live weather forecast on FOX43 News. Visit the FOX43 website to see Joey’s appearance. Joey was selected as one of Maryellen’s Weather Kids (MaryEllen Pann is a meteorologist with FOX43). A letter from FOX43 to Providence Principal Christina McLaughlin said in addition to his live, on-air appearance, “Joey also got a peek behind the scenes of how a television station operates, and received a free t-shirt provided by Weather Kids sponsor Lapp Electric.”
