Providence - Cat in HatWEBREAD ACROSS AMERICA: Many interesting and exciting activities have been planned for this week, March 2-6, to celebrate Read Across America Week, and the anniversary of the birthday of the beloved Dr. Seuss. Some of those activities will include “Drop Everything and Read Day,” classroom visits by “mystery readers,” “Read with a Buddy Day,” and “Wear Red and White Day” (just like the Cat in the Hat).  In the photo, Providence Elementary first graders have already been treated to reading time with special guests, including the Cat in the Hat (principal Christina McLaughlin).

SCHOOL BREAKFAST WEEK: Eating breakfast, either at home or at school, provides students with many important nutritional, academic and behavioral benefits. This week, March 2-6, is National School Breakfast Week and Solanco Elementary School cafeterias will celebrate with a theme of “Make the Grade with School Breakfast.”

Following is the interesting and tasty school breakfast menu for next week in the elementary schools:

Monday – “Green Egg & Ham Sandwich”

Tuesday – “Honor Cinnamon Roll”

Wednesday – “Perfect Attendance Parfait”

Thursday – “Extra Credit Jump Start”

Friday – “Wrap Your Head Around It Cheese Omelet”

Breakfast in Solanco schools is only $1. Each student purchasing a breakfast at the elementary level during National School Breakfast Week will receive a free school item.

As a reminder, students using their art and creativity skills to participate in the art contest “School Breakfast: Before & After,” must submit their drawings by Friday, March 20.
