Swift - Spelling beeWEB

Hirsute, wahine, and ignominious are challenging words to spell, to say the least. Yet these were some of the words that Swift Middle School students confronted in the eighth and 9th rounds of the Swift Spelling Bee.

The competition was stiff, and when it was all said and done Nate Miller (center) was the spelling bee champion. Second place finisher Kameryn Trimble (left) and Gabe Lamonaca (right) also put in very impressive performances. Congratulations!

Swift 8th grade language arts teacher Molly Wishneski said Nate and Kameryn have earned the opportunity to participate in the semi-final written test at Conestoga Valley Middle School on February 25. Gabe will be a stand-in, ready to compete at Conestoga Valley if either Nate or Kameryn are unable to take part in the written test.

Other words students were asked to spell in the Swift Spelling Bee included anathema, impugn and palliative.

Congratulations to all once more and good luck Nate and Kameryn!
