Dresses and gowns for students at homecoming

| September 19, 2014

Renee’s Closet at Solanco High School has been expanded from gowns to now include suits that can be borrowed, at no charge, by students for homecoming, the prom, weddings and
other similar activities.

The gown collection, now featuring more than 55 gowns, is named in honor of 2011 Solanco High School grad Renee Willard, who passed away last winter. “I wanted to preserve her beauty and generosity in a project that reflects just that,” said Solanco High School teacher Leslie McRobbie said.

Now, McRobbie and high school teacher Kyle Nardella are creating Dapper Dan’s, in memory of 2014 grad Daniel Lugo who died in June. It will feature donated dress shirts, ties, dress shoes, pants and belts that students can borrow.

Students can review an inventory of clothes which are listed by picture, size and detail on a bulletin board near room 913 at the high school. “I only ask that they return the items they borrow when their event or activity is over,” McRobbie said.

McRobbie and Nardella are asking parents and other community members to consider donating any dresses and men’s dress clothes that do not fit or they no longer wear.

The homecoming dance at Solanco High School is Saturday, October 4 from 7 to 10 p.m.
