| January 17, 2014

The Solanco Education Foundation is planning to award $1,000 scholarships to at least six graduating seniors who will continue their education beyond high school. Selection criteria include average or better class standing and scholastic ability, involvement in school and community activities, and good character, leadership and moral standards.

In addition, the foundation is also accepting applications for the Barbara Haverstick Memorial Scholarship of $1,000. The scholarship will be awarded to a student who pursues a degree in elementary education and meets the same criteria listed in the previous paragraph. Applications are available at the high school office.

Each year, the Solanco Education Foundation awards $1,000 student scholarships, and $500 grants to Solanco teachers so they can implement innovative educational programs in their classrooms.

Scholarship applications are available in the high school guidance office. The deadline for completed applications to be turned in at the guidance office is Friday, March 28.
